This week I have joint the parliamentary event and annual meeting of BIO Deutschland. The association is the voice of the #biotechnology industry, focused on the imperative of harnessing opportunities to position #Germany as a leading biotechnology destination. The organization is committed to fostering research in biotechnological processes across various fields, with an eye towards securing a #sustainable future in #medicine, #healthcare, sustainable industries, #food production, and #agriculture. The commitment shown by the parliamentary representatives reaffirms the importance of this industry in shaping the nation's path to prosperity and progress. They highlighted the pivotal role it plays in shaping the country's future, underlining its potential for fostering innovation and economic development. As Germany moves forward, embracing biotechnology will be instrumental in charting a course towards a brighter and more sustainable tomorrow, across a wide spectrum of vital sectors. I look forward to supporting these efforts as part of the Bio Deutschland board.

It is going to get worse with the patenting in Germany. As far as I understand, the WIPANO program was partially canceled [1]. I cannot get these subsidies for filing the patent application at the university level anymore. Currently, I am about to abandon two patent applications. My university budget can barely handle this. Essentially, it means those inventions happening at the university level won't be patented much, which kills the chances of innovation in the future. Even governmental start-up programs like EXIST - Existenzgründungen aus der Wissenschaft don't want to give you money without a reasonable patent portfolio. It feels to me like Robert Habeck's ministry kills the future. Germany is so rapidly going downhill. [1] https://lnkd.in/ew_98ZsH

In the cogeneration power plant Alfhausen, two MWM TCG 3020 V20 gas engines use biomethane to generate environmentally friendly energy for the municipality's district heating network. The CHP plant is part of the award-winning "Green Village" energy concept and the first of three CHP generation projects to be implemented in the region.
